EXPERIENCE MATTERS
Shotcrete is more commonly known as sprayed concrete. Over the past 50 years, Pioneer Pool & Building have constructed over 1500 swimming pools throughout Christchurch and the South Island. This coupled with success in using this technology for other applications such as building re-strengthening, skate board parks, feature walls, retaining walls and houses, make Pioneer Pool and Building professionals in this method of construction.
An example of this work was the strengthening of Ivey Hall at Lincoln University. This involved spraying concrete to the interior walls of the building on all three levels. The first time this had been tried and proven in New Zealand.

Ours is a concrete pool built above the ground on a steep site and supported by concrete columns. After the February 2011 earthquake, the pool survived with the only real damage being cracks to the plaster lining. The fact the pool survived the earthquake forces is a testament to the engineer’s design and Pioneer Pools’ construction.
From our perspective, the pool design and build was a smooth exercise. We had certain specific requirements and dimensions for a lap pool and these were all accommodated without apparent difficulties.
We would have no trouble recommending Pioneer Pools’ workmanship to another potential client.
We took some time in convincing ourselves that a pool on the site was doable and were thrilled with the outcome. We continue to be so.
